Photographs by James Helmer

Photographed over two years, The Island offers an ambiguous look into Canada's most southern inhabited community. Each photo is recorded in Latitude and Longitude, allowing the viewer to decide what connects and distinguishes the subjects from the region. A found object, a vernacular photo, and an image at Middle Island in Lake Erie at the absolute southernmost point of Canada are included in the project.
